A Landmark Cultural Celebration Bridging France and Korea Through Fashion

LUCIE BROCHARD.võ is honored to have participated in the official celebrations marking the 140th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between France and the Republic of Korea, a historic milestone that highlights over a century of cultural exchange, friendship, and collaboration between the two nations.

Held in Seoul throughout early June, the commemorative events brought together leaders from the worlds of diplomacy, culture, art, and fashion. For LUCIE BROCHARD.võ, this occasion represented more than a celebration it was an opportunity to express the brand's Franco-Korean identity through creativity, craftsmanship, and cultural dialogue.

A Couture Creation for Soprano Sumi Jo at Deoksugung Palace

One of the highlights of the celebration was the official anniversary ceremony held at Deoksugung Palace on June 4. For this prestigious occasion, LUCIE BROCHARD.võ had the privilege of designing a bespoke stage ensemble for internationally acclaimed soprano Sumi Jo.

Inspired by the poetic universe of Feuilles de Soie ("Silk Leaves"), the couture creation reinterpreted the elegance of the traditional Korean jeogori through a contemporary lens. Crafted using Korean Hamchang silk, the design featured fluid silhouettes, botanical motifs, and refined tailoring that embodied the meeting point between Korean heritage and French couture savoir-faire.

The project reflected the Maison's commitment to honoring cultural traditions while embracing modernity—an approach that has been at the heart of the brand since its founding.

A Special Honor: Meeting Kim Hae Kyung

It was also a true honor to meet Kim Hae Kyung, First Lady of South Korea and pianist, during this commemorative period.

Her presence at key diplomatic and cultural events highlights the importance of cultural engagement at the highest level of international relations, especially in strengthening Franco-Korean friendship through art, education, and public diplomacy.

Meeting her during such a historic celebration was a deeply meaningful moment for the House, reinforcing the shared values of culture, elegance, and exchange between nations.
